Diff cover removal broken vent tube nipple
Guys
While investigating a loose hose under the rear of my car I have come upon a broken nipple for the 7.5" differential cover. What would be the simplest way to repair this? Can I support the 3rd member with a floor jack and then remove the bolts that hold the cover to the assembly? I'm assuming that I will need to remove the cover from the car to avoid any metal chips getting into the works? What say you?- Thank you in advance.-Brad

That nipple just presses into the cover. I believe it is made of plastic. You should be able to tap it out with a screwdriver or punch on the small ridge at the contact point on the cover. If that ridge should happen to break off, you can thread a lag bolt into the opening and beat on that.
