Any Interest in a Cobra Engine?
I sold my Miata last year and have another project vehicle, so I will not be pursuing a V8 Conversion. I have a complete engine/transmission/wiring harness/ECU out of a 1995 Mustang Cobra. It originally had 86K miles on it. Now, before anyone gets all giddy, there is a big caveat…
I simply cannot leave well enough alone, so I tore down the engine, had the block cleaned, honed, new freeze plugs and cam bearings installed. At the moment the block is bare and sitting on my engine stand. I have new pistons pressed on to the existing rods and a new set of piston rings ready to be installed. The GT40 heads have been cleaned (shot blasted) resurfaced and had a valve job done. The crank is perfect and needed no machining. Any prospective buyers will have to reassemble the engine to their specifications. I have not touched the 5 speed transmission, so it is intact. I pretty much have everything to put it back together except for the necessary gaskets, bearings, pump, ect..
I know this is a big project for someone to undertake but at least you know up front what you are getting. I'm going to take a bath on this one as I spent well over $1K just for the machine work and the pistons/piston rings. I want $1500.00 for everything. If no one bites then I'll put it back together at some future point and find something to stick it into.
