I purchased a small charcoal canister designed for some Land Rover model and installed it in a clear spot above where the factory Mazda fuel filter is located. Others, I believe, have reused the Mazda one in the same spot I described. Mine just vents to the atmosphere as best as I can remember.
*** Did you have to modify the hard fuel lines at the tank to accept the AN fittings??? And is that a V8Roadster kit you’re using?? ***

I fought with the fuel filter mounting pretty badly. On and off a dozen times, rotated the mount bracket 6 ways from Sunday and never could find an orientation that didn't put the fuel lines rubbing against the tank edge. Eventually I ended up using the stock Miata filter bracket (had to get a longer bolt) and turned it such that the fittings are a little above the tank edge on the outer side. Clears the tank pretty well that way. I did snap the ground strap during all of this, but I've seen a few other installs without the strap, so I'm thinking I'm Ok here?
As for the vapor canister and the vapor lines, I'm thinking I should just make a loop between the pressure vent, the vapor canister, and the two small lines that come off the filler neck? Or is there any benefit to doing this at all? If I just dump the pressure vent to atmosphere, will I have a lot of gas smell? How about those two small vent lines coming off the filler neck? Just plug them off?

Unfortunately, very little. I still get out in the garage and piddle from time to time, but other life factors keep getting in the way. What I had hoped to be a 1 year project is turning into 2, 3, hopefully less than 4 years

Zaphod, hope your project is a future hope.
Here is a photo of my NC PRHT I have been driving for a couple years. It has an AC, PS, PB, ABS, and AT includes the paddle shifter from the original Mazda.
