Summit AN fittings with Summit PTFE stainless line
I "may" have a problem with my newly installed AN-6 fittings on Summit ptfe stainless hose. I assembled the new fuel line after watching the Summit how-to video on Youtube and was pleased with how it actually wasn't that hard to do. Yesterday as an afterthought I decided to purge the supply line (all new from the stock fuel filter with about 6' of hard line and 2' of stainless ptfe) so I disconnected the new line from the Fitech and powering up the fuel pump and let a quart or so of gas flush out anything that might cause problems. All went well on the purge.
After reinstalling the AN fitting at the Fitech I noticed the stainless line was pushed out about 1/4". Only reason I caught it was I'd put a wrap of electrical tape around the stainless prior to assembling the fittings/hose marking the stab depth of the stainless/ptfe line and decided to leave the tape in place so I'd have a clue if the hose did push out of the fitting. And of course it did.
If you check the (fuzzy) image you'll see the stainless between the tape and fitting on the drivers side at the fuel inlet on carb looking Fitech.
So now I'm wondering, will the stainless ptfe hose expand in the fitting when I pressure up the fuel system, locking itself in place (on the stepped retention ridges inside the fitting shell securing the hose). Or will it blow off.
And yes everything is Tight.
I'm actually considering pulling the two hoses back off, hanging then vertically, making up some slow set JB Weld and letting it ooze it's way down into the fitting, sealing the stainless to the retention ridges which will (to my simple mind at least) lock the stainless in place, guaranteeing no blowouts.
Thanks for helping me figure this out!

NO!
Stop what you are doing before you burn your car to the ground!
PTFE line requires special PTFE fittings. From what I can see ( not a whole lot ). It looks like you are trying to use standard AN hose fitting on an PTFE line.
DO NOT USE THAT. Once that line sees ~50 psi of fuel pressure, I will guarantee that it will blow apart and you will have fuel everywhere.
Youll either need to get standard AN line, or get the correct PTFE fittings.

Agreed. Each type of hose requires fittings to match. And if you are using a PTFE fitting, there's something wrong with the assembly. Go to the Summit catalog and match part numbers.

The FedEx truck showed up Saturday with the Proper PTFE ends. They were not Too hard to install, seems to be a good system with a brass insert that goes between the PTFE tubing and the woven stainless shielding. When you tighten things up it captures the PTFE in a confidence inspiring way. Initial pressurizing and a test startup showed no leaks.
Thanks again wcw5023!!

Thank you for posting about this. I had not realized that there were multiple fittings specific to each hose. I checked back at my Summit order and realized I made the same mistake, but luckily I haven't made the lines yet.
