Fitech and CDI Rev Limit Risk
This is purely my speculation, but during my net searches on Fitech throttle body fuel injection I've read a couple post about a warning from MSD concerning running there CDI units and aftermarket fi units.
This got me to thinking, I'm running a Summit CDI with it's rev limiter set on 5,000 rpm. My 30003, 400 hp Fitech unit does not control timing but does have a rev limiting fuction which I set at 6,000 rpm. So what if I hit the 5k limit on the Summit box (I have several times) but the Fitech continues to fuel at maximum rate since it doesn't know the CDI unit has limited spark and it's trying to hit 6k.
I'm thinking the above scenario can't be good, so I'm gonna raise the CDI to 8k just for good measure and leave the Fitech fi on 6k. I really don't think the Summit box allows the rev limiter to be turned off or I'd take that route.
