Default WTB: LSx Miata (possibly 5.0)

Well if any of you guys have read my intro by now, I'll very soon be entering the market for a V8 powered Miata!

I'd really prefer a LSx, but I wouldn't mind a nicely done 5.0 either. It must be streetable. This is going to be a car I can take out to an autox event, but also drive it on the street occasionally.

I'm not trying to spend a lot of money, but will do it for the right car. I'm trying to see if I can bring someone out of hiding! Thanks!

Thanks for the quick responses! I'm located in Southwest Virginia. Distance isn't a huge problem for me, but not really trying to drive all the way across the country, unless the price is just an absolute steal. Ideally, I'm trying to stay under 15k. I'm looking for a turnkey vehicle with very minor problems to not having any issues at all considering I just recently lost my garage. That will probably change very soon considering all of my tools are taking up my already miniature house garage lol

Thanks for the lead! Still might be more interested in a LS car, but I'm really a Ford guy at the core (:

Just wondering what your thought process is in the LS vs Ford. What are you seeing as the benefit to the LS over the ford?

As far as I can tell the difference between and LS and a Ford is about the same as the difference between a very hot brunette and a very hot blonde. They will both knock your socks off it's just a matter of style in how they do it.

It's only for petty reasons more than anything. I really favor the aluminum block over the 5.0 iron block is the main reason. The LS sounds better "stock" than the 5.0 does, but when we're talking about swapped V8 roadsters, nothing is really stock lol.

I've owned a few Fords over the years, and I've never really experienced the "LSx craze" other than riding passenger in a few LS1/2/6 etc cars. I figured why not start with a 2400 lb monster for my first LS car

Makes sense. Never heard anyone say they like the sound of the LS over the old school motors so I wish you would pass that on to me! I have tried a half dozen different gyrations to get the car to sound old school but can't get there. In my head I want to hear 67 big block vette but what comes out is this raspy hollow mutt...

Jim,
I agree with you about the Ford sound. Also, That care for $15,500 may go lower as it is a buyers market and most everyone has come down. He may not but may be worth a look. To the OP, the only reason that I would go for an LS over then FSB is if wheel horse power over 400 is wanted then, the LS may be easier to achieve that power for a reasonable cost. However, I am a newby to the V-8 Miata and know far less then Jim or others on this board..
I recently got a '90 with mostly new 302 with around 245 rwhp and it is fun. Not saying I won't want more at some point but for now, I am not looking at any more power and it does sound good with the E303 loping...
