Wiring is done but there is a draw on the battery
i have my wiring complete and the car runs but something is draining the battery quite fast. With a volt meter on it you can watch the volts drop (car is not on when this happens).
i have the engine ground hooked up and the ground at the rear of the car.
The only thing was that I had the alternator wired wrong and it wasn’t charging but that is fixed and tested.
The only other thing I can think of is. Pin 17 for the check engine light is supposed to be tan. Mine is yellow with black. I can not find a tan wire. The mustang manual mentions a yellow with black wire for pin 17 but also says pin 17 is tan. I hooked up the yellow with black from pin 17. I have no check engine light.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try this:

Since you said that you had an issue with the alternator, you may want to disconnect that first.

Turns out the battery was bad after all.

If you are using a computer from a 1988 Mustang, that year model does not display a check engine light. That feature was not introduced until 1989, when they also introduced the mass airflow sensor on all Mustangs. Only California emission equipped Mustangs had a MAF sensor in 1988.
