Default Help: Rear Boot recommendation - grease leak (7.5 diff)

Hi Team,

I'm nearly complete with my monster miata build but i'm having some grease leakage from the rear boots that were a part of Martin's Monster Miata kit.
I've put about 3k on the car .

I've read in some forums that going with a Ford Ranger or Ford Taurus set of boots (smaller) would work. Does anyone have any prior experience.
I"m running a 7.5 diff out of an Thunderbird.
I'm happy to provide pics or more details.

Thanks for the time.

If someone (moderator) can help direct me to the right thread. I'd be grateful.

R,
Chris

I seem to recall some people using an Audi boot. Im not sure of the specifics behind it but I'm sure if you do a little searching you can find some info.

I'm using V8R heavy duty axles. The supplied boots just barely touched the shock body on one side only. I changed them over to Audi boots. The fit is much better.

I just ordered two of these yesterday: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

I believe they are the 'Audi boot'.

I just repacked my joints and Martin said to use this grease. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o08_s00
Personally I thought it a bit thin and like the Amzoil stuff better but whatever. Be sure and shield or wrap your exhaust where it runs under the joints. Yeah ask me how I know about that too...

Write up on the Audi boots is here. Jim and Jenna build diary, Miata LS1 Conversion: The 3rd half of the back half, 8.8 Ford axles in a Miata. Martin said he tried them and it didn't work but I've got 15,000 miles on mine with no issues at all.

I just rebuilt mine using the Audi boots and Redline CV2. I also repacked my front hubs with the same stuff.

The Audi boots are the current "best" to use. In the past it was a Taurus outer boot.
