Power steering question
Hey all! I had a quick question for anyone that may have done this before on a Miata or any other car really. I am putting a Ford 4.0 into an NA Miata and the line lines up perfectly except for one thing.. The line on the high pressure side coming from the pump is a female end.. and so is the outlet on the pump. I did a bit of googling and searching but couldnt find much.
SO my question is could I get a male to male adapter that would screw into the pump and the high pressure line or would this not work? My worry is that since the factory lines are flared ends that a screw in insert would not seal properly and I know these lines are under a load of pressure.
My other question is how would I find the thread pitch of the line? Is it AN, NTP, Metric, Standard ect.
Thanks!
Alex

FWIW, on my SN95 5.0, it was super easy to get a new Ford line from the pump, then cut and re-flare it on the rack end using the Miata nut. Added a small thin brass washer for extra insurance and it has worked perfectly for 6 years, no leaks.
