Default Engine Rebuild

Time for an engine rebuild. I installed the short block untouched with 50,000 miles on it. Then beat on it at the race track for 3 years. It was starting to leak and burn oil. Best to do it now, rather than in the middle of the season.

Wowzer, I guess I forgot how awesome that package is! Bet it took all of what,,,,,20 minutes to drop the subframe/engine?

Added in edit; it was late and I was tired. Failed to click the link last night. What a great write-up on the engine freshening up. Well Done Sir!

Good Luck

"finished" the rebuild and install a couple of weeks ago. Picked it up from the dyno tuner this morning.

The short block was used when I installed it three years go. The heads were rebuilt before installation. Didn't look too bad this year.

Looked a lot better after re-assembly.

I used the new rocker arms from the LS6 Store.

During disassembly, I noticed that some of the cover and oil pan bolts were a little lose. Probably increasing the oil leaks. I used safety wire this time.

I changed the cam. Mostly because I'm not smart enough to leave well enough alone.

And the intake. I chose the Edelbrock because it had a lower profile. It just barely clears the hood. I had to cut and weld the throttle bracket to fit right.

Gained a little HP, lost a little torque.

I have some details to attend to (like new front fenders). First race is 13 April. Should be ready in time.
