Engine Rebuild

Time for an engine rebuild. I installed the short block untouched with 50,000 miles on it. Then beat on it at the race track for 3 years. It was starting to leak and burn oil. Best to do it now, rather than in the middle of the season.

Exocet V8 Engine Rebuild https://i.imgur.com/TjAW5y8.jpg Added in edit; it was late and I was tired. Failed to click the link last night. What a great write-up on the engine freshening up. Well Done Sir! Good Luck RonR |

"finished" the rebuild and install a couple of weeks ago. Picked it up from the dyno tuner this morning.
The short block was used when I installed it three years go. The heads were rebuilt before installation. Didn't look too bad this year. Attachment 8421 Attachment 8422 Attachment 8423 Looked a lot better after re-assembly. Attachment 8424 I used the new rocker arms from the LS6 Store. Attachment 8425 During disassembly, I noticed that some of the cover and oil pan bolts were a little lose. Probably increasing the oil leaks. I used safety wire this time. Attachment 8426 |

I changed the cam. Mostly because I'm not smart enough to leave well enough alone.
Attachment 8416 And the intake. I chose the Edelbrock because it had a lower profile. It just barely clears the hood. I had to cut and weld the throttle bracket to fit right. Attachment 8417 Attachment 8418 Gained a little HP, lost a little torque. Attachment 8419 Tune from 2016 Attachment 8420 I have some details to attend to (like new front fenders). First race is 13 April. Should be ready in time. |
