Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by build sheet though.

Ah Got it. I'm not a very fast fabricator, so I decided it was better for me to buy most of what i need instead of build. Ive got an LS3, V8R subframe and frame rails, getrag diff, and a new t56 transmission. I also bought V8R headears, but build the rest of my exhaust. suspension and brakes are stock for now, with plans to upgrade after its on the road.

That is awesome! Very similar to my setup minus the rear end and the lt!

what are you doing for wiring?
What fuel pump are you planning on using?

Mine in out in grantsville getting the exhaust built. I am sad I couldn’t use the v8 headers but mine should be 1 7/8th primary’s with a similar layout.

Not to shabby

For the wiring I bought a standalone harness and added everything else I needed to it like wires for the ac, Mazda oil pressure and temp sensors, rear o2 sensors, and emissions stuff. I also stripped back all the factory harnesses and pulled out all the unneeded wires from them and upgraded the wires to the fuel pump.

One cool thing I did that I don’t think too many people have done is I put the ecm in the factory nb location above the clutch pedal. It is turning out fairly clean, but I still have some work to do.

As for the fuel pump it’s a deatschworks pump from V8R, I don’t remember the size, maybe 255?

What size exhaust are you doing?

the ecu placement is awesome!

I went with the dw300 from flying Miata because of the higher pressure (68psi) I have to hold to keep the hpfp happy.

Exhaust will be stainless it will be long tubes 1 7/8 primary’s to a 3 inch collector than to xpipe and two resonators and two vibrant mufflers. Staying 3 inch the whole way.

Enjoy seeing your progress. I used Martins first LS kit. It worked well with a few lil tweaks.
one lil problem I had, which I haven’t seen anyone else mention was, my steering was very twitchy, because the LS pump has twice the pressure of the Miata pump. Thank goodness they make a pressure regulator for the power steering line.

Hope we you both are enjoying the challenges !

If you have header clearance problems, there is a grommet where the steering shaft goes thru the firewall. Take the bolt out of the grommet, and it will scoot outward just a bit, and give you a little more room.

Exhaust is coming along almost there

I think they look similar to the v8r ones but prettier

Some one told me I shouldn’t someone please confirm

Dropped subframe to final self the headers 1 7/8 stainless bros turned out beautifully!

Pretty front vied of suspension and cleaned up rack while building headers

Headers in March patience is not my virtue

Starting to build the exhaust in January...

Love the build. I just picked up a 2017 L86/LT1 out of a gm truck. i had a few questions since im changing over from an LS1 swap to a LT1.
What intake manifold did you go with? i see that its the flat style maybe a vette or after market?
What kind of air filter and intake are you going to go with?
i noticed that you did not go with the V8R long tube headers, why?
Why did you not add power steering?

your build is looking great!!
thank you in advance

I have a camaro intake manifold,
ls7 vette intake
v8 long tubes do not fit, different flanges different height. You could modify them but I had some build…. Very expensive.
I have never had power steering and will add electronic ps if needed down the road.

if you have the ls style front subframe the motor will sit too high for the hood to close. I am going to cut mine.

I am changing from truck accessories to camaro to lower the throttle body alternator. But she fires up now.

so you are saying that the LS V8R subframe that i have will make the engine sit up to high? how do you plan on modifying it to fit? im working with a NB 1999 Miata. so maybe the engine bay is a little different so i don't have to do this. i don't know.
about the headers i sort of assumed that i just wanted to make sure. so it looks like ill have to have someone build me some as well.
that's great to know that my LS7 intake will work with this engine
I was looking into getting the MSD ported intake manifold for mo power.
so im assuming that the power steering will have to be electronic. did you look into doing a a PS belt driven pump?

if you have a video of yours running, upload it to YouTube and past the link in here.

GREAT BUILD!!!

First time I heard her try to fire:

Walkthrough of the car:

the cars name is Lucy Short for Lucifer (might kill me)lol
Here is it starting up and some short Revs:

Zach Ross on V8miatas build one in a 99 as well and he had to build a custom front subframe becuase the hood will not close I used the LS subframe and made the mounts as short as i could. I will need to cut the hood But i am good with that.
MSD Looks cooler but doesnt really make significat power more than the camaro and its supid expensive. If you want more go with the LT2 off a c8 and just dremel out the bottom. it will fit just fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions happy to help.

Hey OP, sorry to reopen thread and bother you. I plan on doing the same swap out with a L86 6.2L from an Escalade. I wanted to ask, did you go with the t56 magnum F? and what bell housing did you use to mount up to motor? Did you go with the V8R fuel line kit w/ filter when going DW300? Thank you for your time.

I do have a t56-f I went with the Ls bell housing it lines up with all but the top bolt. I built my own fuel lines (PTFE) with AN fittings to an aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. In the same spot they mount the filter. And run one line to the front. Also highly recommend running a hard wire kit for the fuel pump.

happy to anwser any questions you have but way more active on Facebook. Also check out v8 Miata’s on facebook.
