Default Newb checking In.

Yep, I'm yet again the newb to a forum.

Name's, Josh. I'm currently in the beginning stages of swapping a 302 into my 05 Mazdaspeed.

This is the car's current state.

Wow - that's a brief intro on your V8 build!! Tell us more about it --- and you ought to create a build thread on this site for us to follow. I'd love to hear the reasons why the turbo 4 is coming out of the MazdaSpeed and why the Ford 5.0 / 302. Should be a sweet conversion when done. Thx.

Yeah, I wrote that quickly while at work.

The turbo-4 just isn't "economical" when it comes to making power. I have been going back and forth for the better part of about a year on the swap. I priced out my options and its just simply that the 302 swap is the best bang for the buck. One sunday night a few weeks ago, I said "F it!" and started to tear her apart.

My plans for the build are fairly simple really. I will be modifying the k-member and what have you myself. Got a buddy with a nice welder and plasma cutter.

I want to eventually push between 4 and 500 whp. Yes, I realize that is a stupid amount of power for a street driven maita, but oh well. LOL

LOL that's the way a lot of us get in trouble Josh!! I'm looking forward to seeing a home grown build come together and really glad you are posting on it. I’d love to hear more about your plan and cost estimate. I can’t imagine how can could hit 400+ rwhp with a 302 for less than you could with a LSx. No question it's going to be great when you are done though!

The main reason I am going 302 is; I cam across a killer deal on a full swap from a 93 fox. Motor, trans, harness, headers (dont think I can use those though, but I can modify them), computer, hell even the cluster. All for 600 bucks. Has less only 90k on it.

Got it so cheap because the guy is doing a LS6 swap into the Fox

LS swaps around my area are over priced because we have a huge Nissan 240 following in the nashville area and you gotta pay what I like to call "drift tax" on them. Plus, to my knowledge no one has swapped a 302 into a Mazdaspeed yet. LSx has been done.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money to hit that 400 to 500 whp goal.
