Default Inherited my father's LS3 2001 Miata

Hello gang! I inherited a 2001 Miata with an LS3 my father built ~15 years ago with V8 Roadster and Flyin' Miata parts. It runs great, but there will come a time that I will need to lean on an experienced group to help troubleshoot items and learn about the car in-general. My father was a super-engineer and could build anything without a manual. This installation gets raves when I take the car to Cars & Coffee, etc. I am also an engineer by background, but can't match my father's natural ability to problem-solve.

He left good notes on the build, but as you all know, he couldn't cover everything in the months he spent on the car.

My first question to the group--as I am in a jam: (Sorry if this should be in the electrical section) I have lost the only key to the car! Being an NB2, there is an immobilizer and apparently, Mazda is out (forever) of blank NB2 keys with the immobilizer chip. But I was wondering--Do most LS3 NB2 conversions bypass the immobilizer? If so, I could potentially use a non-chip key.

Any help I can get would be great!
