Default LS3 Newbie here...greetings all!

Just recently won a BAT auction for a 2001 British Racing Green LS3 powered Flyin' Miata build. I'll take delivery and see the car for the first time in about a week. Needless to say, I'm a bit excited! I've never driven a V8 Miata but I've read a lot of good things about these Habu cars from FM. This one was built in 2015, has about 2,500 miles on the build. Can't wait!! Looking fwd to bouncing questions off this experienced group as I'm a total newbie in these waters.

You sure got a sweet ride, once it actually shows up.
Love that color.

Default Habu update delay...

I'd LOVE to provide an update on my first drive in the Habu, but unfortunately it's still winter here!! That said I'm happy to report the car was delivered safe and sound, and it looks incredible. Got it up on a lift to scrutinize it end to end with my close friend who's a top notch car builder. We both agreed it's clearly an excellent build. Zero corrosion anywhere, top shelf components everywhere. Due to winter roads, unable to drive it... not even around the block. We did run it. Cold started great, sounds amazing. The Tremec Tranzilla clicks from gear to gear precisely. Absolutely thrilled so far! Should get it in the road mid April.

Looks like a super clean build, as it should be. Hope you get to drive it more than the previous owner.

Default Habu update...

Quick update on Habu #31. In short, what a fantastic car. Kudos to Flyin' Miata. They clearly took a cut-no-corners approach. The car is obviously fast... we all know 525hp and 2615 lbs will make for crazy acceleration, that's just physics. But what I'm more impressed with is how simply usable this car is. Power delivery from the LS376/525 is so linear and throttle response so predictable that this is not a terrifying thing to drive. The Fox Racing suspension is firm but compliant. Steering feel and handling are pure Miata. And the exhaust sound is glorious. I've put about 400 miles on so far and it's such a pleasure to drive that I find myself running errands in it! Heck even the AC and cruise control work. I'm still getting to know the car but I have had a few fun shock-and-awe moments. One where I pulled along side a 650hp C7 Z06 and taunted the driver with a quick throttle blip. He then dropped the hammer, i did the same, and we enjoyed maybe 3 seconds of WOT. I was pulling on him slightly and he was a good sport, big smile and thumbs up. Anyway, many thanks to Keith and crew at FM for their fine work. That's it for now!

Just saw this thread, sounds like you have a great car there. I watched it on BAT just to gauge current values of them. I think given what FM charges to make the swap, you got a pretty good price!
