Hey
Hey,
I purchased a 97 Miata for my daughter in 03 and enjoy driving it whenever she lets me. The only drawback is it is an automatic. She never learned to drive a stick, even though I tried to teach her.
Now I have purchased an 02 and I plan on putting a V8 in it with the help of my son. We are now trying to figure out the best V8 to use. I have visited monstermiata.com and flyinmiata.com to try and compare the Ford and Chevy engines. I'm still it sure which one to use. I am very open to suggestions.
My son just mentioned that the new Mustang Boss 302 would be a great engine, but I haven't researched to know if it will fit. Again, any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm going to post this question in another thread also.

Werlcome....
I believe the new Coyote engine is too tall/wide at the heads for the engine bay, but havent seen one to be sure. My guess it it wont be long until someone tries it, but with the cost of these engines I wouldn't want to buy one just to see.
Martin's kit was the first, has been done many times, and has a lot of support out in the market so if you are a Ford guy it is a great choice.
FM has been the leader in LS swaps due to the volume sold and quality of the kit. Great tech support too.
I used a Boss Frog kit and I have to say that Ric and his crew have been fantastic. Some folks complained that they had to make small mods to the kit such as grinding a hole to have parts fit, but these were early production parts and Ric has made changes on the fly to keep up with demand. I looked at it this way, I am installing a 5 year old engine in a 20 year old chassis....I can't grind a hole? Time to hang up the wrenches! My car carries his entire catalog and I am happy.
Glad to see you are doing a Father/Son project. It is something neither of you will ever forget! Keep us posted.
