Default NC - in NC LS3

Hello!
Figured I would post a friends project car. It's located in Mooresville NC. I'm doing the electrical / controls, the owner and another friend is doing the fab work.

Background/Spec's:
- 2006 Miata
- Engine - NEW LS3
- New Tremac 6-speed
- New GM rear end
- Custom made drive shaft /axles
- Hand made headers / exhaust

Details on the car:
MOUNTING - used the mounting kit from V8 Roadsters for the motor/trans/diff (Big Apologies - I had called out the wrong supplier initally) Steve at V8 Roadsters has been working with the owner from the start...
COOLING - custom radiator - also added a oil and power steering cooler
BRAKES - Four piston Wilwood - all four corners
EXHAUST - Hand made SS
SUSPENSION - Coil Overs - from V8 Roadster as well...
ENGINE WIRING - Had a custom made Spreartech LS harness ( all wiring is hidden) - comes from the rear of the motor so you can't see any of the wires -except the injectors/throttle
Chassis WIRING - Took the factory MAZDA fuse box from under the hood and relocated it to behind the passenger seat ( not a quick task). Eliminated all CAN BUS controls ( interfaced all systems back in). Got everything working with the factory controls - climate control/AC/Lights so on.. Let me know if you need any help wiring your NC car - I have memorized the entire wiring manual at this point ...
DASH - interfaced a Motec unit - very nice..
BATTERY - mounted on it's side in the right rear of the car
ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION - Added a marine grade fuse box to supply power to the LS ECU and Mazda Fuse Box

Sorry - pic's are in no order - the one with the front bumper cover on is from today - finished all wiring / re-installed the dash/motec system..

Going to be a very nice car when it's completed..

It's been a while since I post last. The NC LS3 miata is done. Painted GTR Gray. New top, recovered seats, Custom badges MX-500, everything working like factory, engine has been tuned (well over 500hp at the crank), corner balanced, so on..

Will be at the Charlotte Ultimate Street Car Challenge at the end of this month. This will be the first event to " break " everything in. Have almost 500 miles logged on the street so far - definitely a monster but still feels stable under hard acceleration, cornering and breaking with Wilwoods at all four corners..

Come on out to the Optima Challenge on July 30th and check it out..

Default Just an update

Just purchased this car and it's an amazing machine. Will be contributing as I do a few updates - mostly to modernize the interior as this car has everything else covered!

hello, porschelou . Could you share how to eliminate the CAN BUS control? Does it mean separate the engine control(LS3) and body control(nc) ? Thanks

Hi - not sure porschelou still is on this forum. I am the new owner of this car so I can help with some questions.

In the original build the car is using a GM ECU with a SpearTech swap harness. The GM canbus is driving the Motec C127 dash. The original Mazda F01 fuse box was relocated to behind passenger seat. There is no BCM in this car - the E38 ECU doesn't need one.

I have since replaced the entire F01 box with a ECUMaster PMU24. In the dash I installed a ECUMaster CanSwitch V3 that takes all the drivers controls and puts it on the canbus that the PMU uses as its control inputs. Key switch status (run, start), light status (park, low beams, high beams, fogs, brakes, reverse, hazards, left turn, right turn), as well as clutch pedal position (starter interlock). This allowed me to remove a bunch of wiring as just a canbus data signal from the dash to the PMU - I removed 48lbs of wiring/connectors/fuse blocks from the car

Let me know if I can help you with more specific questions.
