Thanks to a dear friend, the car is 95% wired. Just have the trans left to wire in.

Was also able to get the ECU and Aim dash to communicate, which is a bit of relief since some people with this dash and E67 ECU were having issues.

Felt good to give the motor some juice. Next up is priming her with oil and we should have it running this week!

Shop mutt on guard duty.

Which American Autowire kit did you get? Did you interface with any of the mazda controls...Lights, turn signal, horn, ignition, etc.

Im using the Highway 15 kit. The only Mazda part Im using is the wiper switch, which wont work with a simple toggle switch. The kit is very well built and easy to use.

She's alive! Cranked up on the first try and besides a loose fuel connection everything went smooth. I just have to tidy up the harness in the engine bay and secure the fuel line and main power line to the chassis.

Last part to order is the driveshaft. Any recommendations for places online?

For my drive shaft I used Southwest Speed.
3" Aluminum, handles the LS1 fine.

The return fitting coming out of the filter was loose. As soon as the pump primed I could hear it fizzling.

Gotcha, was it on the female side, or the threaded side? Just curious if all your quick connections did ok.

The threaded side, all the fittings are working properly. I just forgot to put a wrench on it.

It has the GM hot cam, which comes in the 376/480 crate motors.

Ive spent the last couple weeks finishing up all the odds and ends of the wiring. Ready for carpet and dash.
[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I get my driveshaft back today from the shop. I thought it would be a bit pricey but not $455. Ah well.

Im also refabbing the rear end cradle to let exhaust run thru. The boss frog is just not designed for street running vehicles wanting a quieter setup. Ah well.

The exhaust should arrive today as well, I ordered the stainless U Fit kit from Summit with cats and resonators. Im waiting to order the mufflers until I find the ones I want. Leaning toward Dynomax Super Turbos but still researching.

Cheers

Good grief what a car....Im curious to see how you end up with the exhaust. If I got all the way to the back of the car I have either been considering one of those universal kits, or possible piecing it together from madrellbends.com Be sure to take a bunch of pictures and let us know how that universal kit works out.

I might fill them in when I pull apart for paint. Not sure I wanna go that far but my buddy says I should do it. We'll see.

I thought about piecing together parts as well but since this is my first exhaust build I know Im going to need extra bends to learn with. I'll probably end up with quite a bit left over but Im thinking I might add in cutouts down the road.

I helped a buddy shave his fox mustang engine bay and it starts small then ends up a huge project. It took us a couple months of weekends to get it done. If you want to check it out his Instagram is @soiateapancaketoday
End result is awesome but it really is a lot of work.
