Default ECU Location on NB

Like the title says, I am ready to mount my ECU. If I can avoid it, I don't want to mount it under the hood, just to keep things clean. I think I can punch a hole in the firewall large enough to get the two plugs through, and mount it right under the dash parts. Anyone done this on an NB? I know toysnake put his on the passenger floor in his NA, but curious what NB guys are doing.

I have come to the conclusion that even though I have not met most of you, you guys all must be short. I am 6' tall, and I feel like I am running into an issue or two that some of you do not. I want to mount the ecu under the dash, but I don't want to give up a considerable amount of legroom for a passenger.

My ECU and fuse panel are mounted at the bottom of the firewall. I thought it might be an issue for passengers but so far it hasnt been a problem. I rode in the passenger seat while my buddy drove the car and it wasnt noticeable.

I think ECU is a bit smaller than mine though....I've got that big unit straight out of a camaro.

Side note, I finally sent your tools yesterday....Will be there Saturday. Thanks again! I owe you a few beers if our paths cross, mitty perhaps?

A pic of my setup. The fuse panel and ecu together take up a bit of space.

You had me at "beers". Im really hoping to make The Mitty next year, unfortunately it usually runs at the same time as a large job I have. We'll see.

I tried mine in the foot well and hated it only marginally more than the notion of extending 50 wires 6 feet to move it rearward. But I had a huge advantage in my build because keeping things neat and tidy under the hood ranked 917 on the priority list...

Dave, yours looks great except you don't have any AC/Blower/Heater core stuff right? I will have all of that.

Jim, that makes it a fair amount easier...

Pretend it's a 91 with no airbag. Delete the existing passenger airbag. Mount the ecu under the airbag cover.

So I have been out testing the passenger airbag location on my parts car. I really like it, fits perfect in that spot.

Started to dut a hole in my build car.....and my drill burned up....oh well, got a good 8 years out of it. New drill tomorrow and hopefully back at it. I'll update my build thread with how it goes.
