Default BWD Select ignition module

I've been told that one should only use a Ford ignition module. Is this true? What do you folks think about the BWD Select ignition module? What kind of luck have you had with this brand? It is mounted on a heat sink off of the distributor. It happens to be the one that I inherited with the purchase of the car. -Brad

It is probably as good as any. As an old Ford tech, personally, I only use Motorcraft ignition and fuel system parts.

I used to be judgemental towards our dealerships tune-up guy who would always replace the module and pick up coil (stator) at the same time. He said that they act the same when they fail. I learned the hard way that he was correct after replacing my Mustangs module one week and replacing the stator 2 weeks later.
