Default 5.0 Supercharger

Has anyone installed a centrifugal supercharger on 5.0? Or have pics of one? I have a 1996 Miata with 5.0. I have seen the Kenne Bell installed but not a centrifugal. It appears there will be fitment with the hood and the radiator with extra pulley. I can solve the pulley by using a reverse rotation charger, the hood may be a bit more complicated since the charger is so far forward and does not appear that a cowl hood would help. Thanks.

I had a Paxton on a 5.0, but it was in a Mustang. I like the power of the Kenne Bell a lot better.

I thought I had read on another post that you had one. Did you have hood issues with it and how did you solve them? I also like the Kenne Bell better but pricing is keeping me from it. Broader torque curve, lower RPM torque, etc but over $1000 more than a vortech V3. Anyway, any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had to make a custom hood by installing a modified scoop that I got for around $45.00 from Summit. There are some pictures in my album that show what your clearance issues are & how big of a hole that you need to cut. My next project will involve installing an intercooler to free up some power & allow a boost increase. A water/meth kit may be an addition, also.

I looked at your pics. Helps a lot. Thanks for the info and good luck on the boost.

The extra crank pulley attaches to the front of the existing crank pulley and sticks out about another 2 inches. With the radiator in the "stock" kit location there is not enough room for this. On my car I just managed to push the radiator forward in the car enough to fit the kit fans behind it with the Fox (not short Explorer) accessories. Doing this got me about 3 inches of space between the front of the stock crank pulley and the radiator (without the fans and shroud in place). If you did the same thing, it would be possible to make the room you would need if you kept your fans in the "stock" kit place. The only things I had to give up to do this were the hood latch (replaced with aerocatches), the front AirBag sensor (may relocate) and the windshield washer bottle (not an issue if your car does not have ABS-relocated to the trunk).

Thanks, Jason. That gives me an idea of the work involved. I appreciate the help.

I had one on mine. There is a chunk taken out of the frame rail on the driver's side to fit the compressor, and the intake it below inside the bumper, with a rectangular to circular section to clear the engine.

I don't have this setup anymore, so can't take more pics. It does show you what is possible. It cleared the stock hood. Oh, and it was feeding a carb, not an efi system.

The EFI version of the supercharger sits pretty much where the alternator sits. I'm pretty sure it could be lowered if need be to clear the hood. Here's a pic:
