NA wipers won't park and only have one speed

NA wipers won't park and only have one speed
I thought I fired something in the wiper motor by welding right next to it because after the swap the wipers only have one speed and stop right where you shut them off.
Looking at the schematic there is a switch, a motor and the wiring in-between so I figured there is some sort of logic circuit in the motor that does the high, low, intermittent and park functions. But I changed out the wiper motor last night and no change.
Anyone else have post swap wiper issues or have an idea what the problem is?
