Ignition wiring question
I have a 1993 miata that I am putting the ford 5.0 motor in out of a 91 mustang. I am carbeurating the motor in hopes that it will lessen the amount of wiring needed, and because I have completely rebuilt a 1970 camaro from the ground up and I am familiar with carbs and not so much with fuel injection...My question is can I use the ignition wiring from the miata? That is, can i use the same wires that ran to the original mazda starter and run them to the starter on the 5.0?

Yes you can.

Ok cool. Now what other wiring harnesses or other wires can I remove from the engine bay? I am trying to keep it all clean looking and do not want random wires obviously. But can I remove the PCM or ECU? Since I am doing a carbeurated motor and the vehicle will not be sending or recieving any information from sensors on the motor or trans.

I'm using a Jetta MK4 fuse box and putting it on the passenger side. That remove the big fuse box in the engine bay. Hope that help.
That clear a lot of wire for sure... |
I followed the unused Miata wires from the sensor plugs to the ecu connector & removed them one by one. Some wires are needed for gauge operation.

If you use a PM-type Ford starter you can literary just plug it into the Mazda connections. Look up a 1991 Lincoln MkVII as a reference.
