V8 Miata Wiring, Electrical, and ECUsv8 conversions on a Miata can be tricky. Post your comments or questions within with regards to swap wiring and electrical.
The time has come and I have the Toolbox swag to prove it. The stock ECU I was told won’t be sufficient to handle the New bump in C.I.
So its out with the old and in with LS future tech.
The start:
So for the update.
the motor isn’t back from the machine shop and the Holley hasn’t seen power yet.
The lesson that this journey is teaching is that some things just take time and when complete there is a sense of investment that will make the waiting seem less in retrospect.
The Holley Terminator x has a lot of extra loom wiring. While waiting for the motor Time to gather a few items:
• fuel rail pressure sensor
• oil pressure sensor
• msd solid state relay
• wiring 4 & 10 gauge
• O2 block off
also cleaned up wiring from the previous owner removing switches and gauges that have their function build in to the Terminator x.
During this week’s check with the son and father outfit I’m using to machine and build the long block. I learned that it probably a WONDERFUL idea to just take a machine shop only those parts you require them to work on.
I have to source:
• motor mounts and LS swap plates (I had Boss Frog units)
• both Knock sensors
• both the CAM shaft doorman and Sensor
• crank position sensor
• a set of cylinder head dowels
so while social distancing is in, so is have more patiences....
Today was the start of that next chapter in the evolution or the quest to fine tune the beast that is alive under the Red hood. The installation is definitely not a quick install. I have been trashing on the car for the week each day putting ideas into practice and taking my time to bring the 404 to life. Today with the help of Holley's support and some problem solving know how I was able to complete the TPS autoset sequence and enjoy to sound of my new little monster. Did I mention the sound of ported heads are not quiet, these is a bite of refinement required to make the press of the gas pedal most exact but it was my first time. There is a learning curve to climb trying to figure out the EFI software and the learn tables and the different setting. So if your in Florida and have a Dyno I will be scheduling some time soon.
Friendly update: Then is officially 2 step configured so the Track is calling if Covid would let up some. The awesome thing with the current setup is that from a dig there is limited wheel spin I run out of asphalt before I do gears. The duo would be super but the ET is the number I can live with.
