Ford 347, gen 3 alternator wiring, motor won’t shut off!!!
Not sure if this forum is dead… seems like I’m just 10 years late!!
We have a 96 M Edition Miata, and the motor won’t shut off when I turn the key off (ignition).
Currently ( no pun…) I have the green/white/yellows wire wired as follows: Yellow 12 awg going to the + stud on the alternator, White plugged into the alternator and green to keyed ignition.
in the past, I had Yellow going to what/black to gauges.
Same results… motor won’t shut off!!! Pull the coil wire.. again.
i have the schematic book for my year Miata (a great help!!!)
im stumped… anyone???

Did you just switch over to a different style/amperage/year model alternator? If so, did the car shut off properly beforehand? I swapped mine from a 1988 style alternator to a more modern style. I had found the directions on one of the Mustang forums. I have the original wiring instructions that are in the Monster Miata manual if you need them.
