Hard Fuel Line Removal - How to?

Hard Fuel Line Removal - How to?
I am trying to remove the hard fuel lines and cannot seem to find a way to get them out of the tank area (from the filter area). Is there a trick to this?
96 Miata - rubber connections have been removed - all (that I can find) of the clips have been removed
Maybe a 2nd person would help, but I am all alone on this one...
