Alternator - Ford 347- Amp rating
Need a new alternator...at least I hope that's why my volts are down at under 12 on idle...Just read a few posts...Seems the 94 v6 alternator might be the way to go...it puts out 130 amps ($159 at advanced plus core) ...Is seems like it would be enough. I am only pulling an extra 30 amps for the fans,
no experience here so looking for some feedback on what other might have found works...very much appreciated.
using a March pulley tensioner system...not sure how much that matters.

Cool thanks...word to the wise as the guy who I had the bought the car from removed the gauges. I left them out thinking it wise no big deal. Well the gauges connect the circuit wrt the battery light and the alternator won't 'turn on' without this. I'm sure the previous owner didn't know this and was part of the reason he sold the car in the first place. Anyway, after much frustration last night with the alternator not turning on and watching the battery drain down while the car was running with the alternator hooked up, I put the cluster is back in the car and the alternator, the new 3G style, is doing it's job putting out near fifteen volts. So again, there is a reason for everything...3G style alternator does look cool in the car, but of course I spent 150 bucks I didn't need, if only I hooked up the instrument cluster first!...

$87.30, no core charge , & free shipping is a great deal from DBElectrical.com. I may go this route. It seems like my 75amp unit was having a problem keeping up with all of my electrical demands at once (A/C & blower on high speed, cooling fans, lights, wipers, as well as the MSD, & radio amplifier).

Did you pull the trigger on this? I went over to the site but couldn't match anything up to the price you mentioned...a direct link would be great or a tell me what your search conditions were that you used...Thanks T.

If you are using an underdrive pulley system on your car, I would suggest that you get rid of it. It will cause you nothing but trouble. I had to replace alternators on a yearly basis on my Mustang until I removed those damn underdrives. The car ran cooler & the a/c worked a lot better as well.

Pretty much so. The alt bracket needs to be ground on a little,& a jumper made from the regulator plug to the stator. I used a pigtail from the junkyard & swapped over the pins from my old Ford plug that was attached to the former alt. If you google "3G fox-body alt. swap" you should find a lot of info.
