Default V8R Long Tube Headers - Hitting Starter

Hey guys,

We've been battling an issue with the V8R longtubes. we've been working with them but had to come up with a quick solution due to time. I just thought I'd post it in case anyone had any information or understood what the issue was.

Basically the starter is hitting the header. At first we thought it was because it was a reman unit so an OEM start (88878289) was purchased directly from Chevrolet.... still hit

Needing to fire this week we had to shave a little off the bracket of the starter. I have no doubt it's a little weaker but it will work for now.

Cheers,

Adam

With the bracket shaved down it just fits!
Here you can see how much we had to take off.

Here’s what I came up with. Also, you NEED some kind of heat protection on that starter or it will fail on you and you’ll have to remove the subframe and header to replace it.
