Default NA 5.0 T5 swap crossmember question

I'm building a 94 NA and swapping in a 5.0 and T5 from a 89 mustang. I wanted to know if anyone ever used an aftermarket tubular mustang crossmember and just made mounts to attach to the miata. I found someone selling one and it looks like it would work.

Any reason not to go this route?

If you can weld up cups to fit over the frame rails it could work. Keep in mind your exhaust will be running over/under or though it. The V8R xmember has half pipe sections for the exhaust to run though. Martin's has bends to run pipes under as well.

Ya it has two curves in it for the exhaust to pass under it. It looks like a simple solution with a little fab work. I just wonder why more people don't use it.

The tubular Mustang crossmember takes up more room so the pipes hang down a little more. The half-pipe solution allows for more ground clearance.

cvx_20 is too modest to self promote, but he makes and sales a very nice tubular sub-frame. No affiliation, just an admirer or his work.

Good Luck, RonR

Thanks for the replies. I can make something but I just thought that the mustang tubular crossmember looked like a close fit. In my searching and reading I came across a crossmember that is V shaped and bolts to the tunnel. This looks like a good solution with the right reinforcement, does anyone have any info on that setup? Looks easy to make too.
