Important Clutch Master Cylinder Info
If you have a Ford Monster Miata kit from Martin Wilson you may want to keep this information. It will save you time and money in the future. For a while now I have been having clutch problems. I actually made a longer slave cylinder connecting rod than the original one that Martin made. That lasted for a while with success. But over time the clutch continued to fade. I had read other threads that heat from the exhaust caused problems, heating the clutch fluid which could cause the fade. Made a plate that fits between the slave cylinder and the exhaust. That helped but no answer. I installed and new slave cylinder, no help. So I decided to try a new Master Clutch Cylinder. I removed it. No usable part numbers on it. So I went to the web and dug. I went to Martins parts and he wants $95 for a new one. Ouch!! Finally by accident I clicked on Master Brake Cylinders, and there it was. One just like the kit, just like Martins, for only $30. So, write this part number down. Yes, its weird. Thats because it is from a 1972 Datsun 521 Pickup Truck.. What the H*ll.... I looked up what specs there were and it is a match. So I bought it, and it is a direct match. Part Number is M96481 Keep this number. Eventually you will need it.
