Default Auto transmissions...which will fit?

Apparently, the GM 4spd does fit fine...4L08 or such. What about the 6 and 8 speed variants? Anyone used an 8LO9e in a swap? Is there a general consensus on which manual and auto units are the best?

thanks!

The 8-speeds like the 8L90E are much more complex to swap. They often require specific ECU, TCM, and BCM integration that can be a real headache to make work outside their original platform. Fitment can also be an issue https://tropical-casino.com/ due to their size. It's generally not a common, easy swap for most aftermarket applications yet.

Thanks for the response! Had sorta forgotten about this forum. The project is still on track...yes, after 5 years. Ended up with a 6L90E for the 5.3L chev engine still in the works....The car currently has a turboed stock motor that dynoed a little over 300HP. Will need to find a home for that if all goes well. Only has around 40K miles on it.....
