Default Springs for Konis

I have done much searching and I couldn't find someone in a similar situation. The car I am using came with a mostly fresh set of koni yellows. I am at the point that I need suspension and don't want to spend the money on coilovers until I know the car runs well and is proven. Right now the plan is to use Martins springs in the front but I can't find a good spring for the rear. I want to be around 280 lb/in. I emailed Koni but they don't have any spring recommendations that they know will fit the shock. If it comes down to it I guess I will cut as much as possible off of the front springs and put them in the rear. The car will be autox/track/ drive to work.

Anybody have an idea for a good spring set for Konis without doing the coilover conversion????

Thanks!

I'm using Moog part #8803 in the back coupled with Koni yellows and Martin's springs in the front. I believe they are from a 1989 Ford Escort GT Wagon and are 238 lb/in. They fit without modification and I paid about $70 for the pair from Rock Auto.

They get the job done although I do wish I had stiffer springs all the way around.

I struggled with that too. Unless you're going to use the stock fronts on the rear like Martin suggests (cut or not), I'd sell the Koni's and go with one of the usual coilover setups. If they're that fresh, you should be able to get $500 for them and you're halfway to a set of coilovers. If you don't have the coin, stick with the stock springs....lots here using them.

Look in the Summit catalog for Eibach springs. They have a large variety of springs available, and you'll probably find what you need.

There is a very noticeable difference between a $35 spring and a $60 spring.
