Default NA or NB?

I don't know that there was a correct section to put this thread in. Long story short I have had an NA and an NB. I had been looking for an NB to use for my conversion, but now I am kind of one the fence. If you guys that have done this or are in the process were to do it again, which car do you think you would pick?

NB. Slightly more room in the engine compartment, a lot more reinforcing thruout the car, I like the interior better.

Well Gator, personally just liked the "feel" of the NB better, and I understand there is more room under the hood. That being said, I have passed already on a couple of NA's that I would consider as perfect swap candidates and I am second guessing myself because of it.

Depending on what your local emission laws are, for me it would be the NA due to the fact that it is now old enough to be "emissions exempt", & will not have to be inspected every year.

Ahh, Interesting point for some Tbone, however that is one of the joys I actually do have in the state of Illinois, no safety or emissions checks.

The emissions thing goes both ways. Depending on the state, OBD1 could actually be more difficult to pass. Around here OBD1 still gets the roller test with the tailpipe sniffer where as OBD2 just gets a plug in the OBD port looking for codes. I highly doubt an OBD1 car would pass with no cats and a lumpy cam, but on an OBD2 car you simply delete the codes with a tuner.

With all that said, go with an NC!

I rather like the NA better but as you stated the NB in many ways is a better car and for sure a better chassis to convert. But Gator is right pick the one you like best and don't second guess it. You are going to put a truck load if time, effort and $$ in this car so don't compromise on such a critical component of it.

If emissions are not a factor go with an NB. I've built 5 or so NA's and they all would have been NB's if it was not for PA's OBD2 inspection.
