Default Miata Horror Crash Shows What Can Go Wrong Even In Low-Level Racing

Mark Leach, the driver of the blue #16 Miata might not have felt very lucky going into this crash, particularly since it was his very first race. Leach felt lucky at the end of it, though. He had multiple fractures in his arm, whiplash, a bruised lung, and a week in the hospital's worth of other injuries, as ineptechs points out.

Here's how Leach himself described the wreck, which happened at Snetterton back in 2011. "Not the ending I wanted to my first race in my MX5. I was very lucky just to end up with a broken right arm, considering how bad the crash was it could have been a lot worse."

Indeed. And now you know why arm restraints exist.
