Retrospective build thread - Supercharged Lexus 4litre V8 in NA
Heres a build thread on a swap that was completed a while ago - so this should be quick and hope anyone else considering this motor can see that its pretty damn easy to do - maybe not 60 degree v8 easy (easy being relative) I decided to put this up as I am starting my second v8 Miata swap - so this was the first I did
Take one 1991 Eunos Roadster (JDM NA Miata) that was a bit ratty

Add a Lexus 1uzfe 90 degree dohc V8 engine, add a supercharger and a manual gearbox to it - strip out all the weight in the car - nothing under the dash and have fun turning tyres to smoke - it did run a 10.8 on the 1/4 and has been sold
Parts List
Lexus 4 litre v8

w58 gearbox
Toyota hilux clutch
Toyota 3CT flywheel
Rear Sump from CRS in Australia
Supercharger and manifold
Megasquirt ECU and msd coils
Racing concepts rear end kit (Ford 8.8 and blah)
Shifter turret extension on w58 box
custom gearbox mount
tein coilovers
ferrari f355 brakes
custom headers and exhaust to fit
walbro external pump mounted where the fuel filter normally lives - oem pump as lift pump to inline pump
Work done in summary
Engine bay corners trimmed out and squared
chassis rail lip removed and welded closed to gain clearance
subframe shimmed down 8mm to gain bonnet clearance - anything more needs a longer steering shaft and will start messing up susp geometry
seam welding done on inside of doors
so after the engines out - lip removal and sump placement to get a basic idea - the lexus is a wide engine for sure

lip removal

did this all around to gain some clearance

Then I got the brakes and susp and rear end sorted out
std rear claipers but on bigger discs

Ferrari F355 Brembos on bigger discs up front

the racing concepts rear end kit - this is not the final location of the diff - the sideshaft angle was horrendous - I corrected it a lot later on but this is only pic with a flash

Heres some pics of the modded stock front subframe
I used the oem lexus engine mount "ears" I just swapped them over from left to right as they then angled forward
if you look at the subframe pic and look carefully close to the steering rack you will see the plates where the motor bolted to - I used no rubber in the mounts on either engine or gearbox - 100% solid and not a vibration to worry about (Thanks Lexus)

welding in the reinforcing on the subframe

so then after a bit of frustration, swearing etc
this then started to take shape

then i trimmed the bonnet

made a little cover from a cardboard template - had that layed upo in carbon fibre

added some seats and rollbar

and job done - well as done as it could be

would i do it again ?
yes and busy with it this time around - it must look oem......
