New guy looking for direction
I have been on the forum awhile and always wanted a v8 miata but never really thought I would have one. In the process now of buying the basics.
Just found out that I can get my hands on a LS6 out of a donor 02' zo6(70k miles) and I didn't know what else I should try to get off the car. I was thinking wiring harness, pedals, master cylinder, and accessory's but I am not sure on the rest. I have not got to do a lot of research and if I did I am sure I would over look somethings. If you have any suggestion please let me know. If there is anything I should check or change on the motor before we install it into the car. Or maybe you have a clutch or cam setup that I should go ahead and install now before the motor is in the car. The swap will be going in a NB and the plan is for a weekend car with the a few autox and maybe some track time at some point just for fun. Not looking to mod the motor much more than a cam and exhaust but if you have suggestions feel free. I have not bought the miata yet trying to find one now.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Unless you're planning on fabbing up mounts, subframe, etc. yourself your next decision should be what kits you are going to use for the front and rear mounting:
Front (for an LS)
-V8Roadsters forward or rearward mount
-Bossfrog
Rear mounting
-Monster Miata (uses a Ford 7.5 inch rear)
-Boss Frog (uses a Ford 8.8 inch)
-V8 Roadsters (uses a GM rear)
After that, you need to decide what trans you are going with. The Vette has a transaxle so you cannot use it. Your choices are:
-T5 from a Mustang using a conversion bellhousing from V8Roadsters or Summit and a crossmember from V8Roadster or Monster Miata
-T56 from a GM application such as a GTO or F-body with crossmember from V8Roadsters or BossFrog.
-Automatic (on your own there)
Those three areas are going to drive the rest of your decisions since each requires a different list of donor parts. Do not be afraid to mix rear and front fitment hardware from different venders, each has there own good and bad points and the only thing connecting them is a driveshaft.
And as a closing, and possibly somewhat biased, final though: Have you thought about using a Ford engine???
Good Luck and welcome,
