geezer newby, used Z06 or LSx Miata?
Kudos on a great forum guys! Happy to be here. I am parting with my current toy ('01 Cobra convertible) and am fascinated with LSx Miatas (must have been that 355ci Vega waaay back!). I am admittedly torn with considering a used Z06 or even an older 911 but keep coming back to the LSx Miatas. Could some of you who run LSx's give me your thoughts on your cars? If you could would you prefer my alternatives (Z06 or 911) or would nothing pry you out of your modern Cobras and Tigers? Thank you again for the FANTASTIC information on this board!

As Rick said, welcome in!!!
If you want a comfy cruiser with all the bells and whistles, get the Z06
If you want raw AC Cobra power and feel but in a more civilian way (and with better handling), get/build an LSx Miata.

Well put, thank you! Better handling 'eh? I LIKE the sound of that! I was considering a couple of built FFR's (always wanted one when I was younger) but I think I may like the "stealthier" Miata option more now. Better handling would certainly seal the deal for me. Thank you for the input, much appreciated.

Anytime. You should take a few minutes to add your location, done in "user CP". This will let us know if you are close to anyone so we can refer you to them for a little test ride.

Done! I am in BC, Canada so not sure if anyone close by. I have a business trip to Colorado next month so I think I will make a side trip to Flyin' Miata. Been talking to the nice folks there re: putting a car together for me for next summer.

Yes they are very busy , glad I got my car
Down there in November , so I hope to get
It this spring !
My choice for the transplant car would be
A Mazda Speed Miata !
I can explain why over the phone if you
Would like ....
For your info : the next 5 V8 conversions
Are Mazda Speed Miatas .... At FM

The Lsx motor will make as much horsepower as you blood pressure can stand. It fits really well into the car and the 6 speed will give you a car that can cruise nicely on the highway (with 3:73 gears) or trear up the track and get good gas mileage. Go with 6.0L or bigger and the L92 heads and you will have a beast that purrs. good luck and have fun.
