Default 1992 Monster Miata in Central IL

Hello everyone, I just bought my first Monster the last day of July. It was posted a couple of times in the Classified section, and caught my eye when I saw it on Craigslist (New Jersey) in April 2018. He also had a white one listed that wasn't complete, but had a running healthy 302 with fender exiting exhaust. The timing wasn't right and I couldn't get either one. I saw the red one listed again in July on this site by Rowan, a nice fellow from Australia who had purchased it in December, put some money into making it track ready, then decided to get married and sell the car. Things fell into place and I bought it. It seems like a pretty clean build from what I can tell. I have been working about 75-80 hours a week, so I haven't been able to do much to the car yet, until things slow down in a bout a month.

It was setup more as a drift car, but I want to gradually make it more of a drag/show car. The first mod I plan to pursue is taking the sidepipes off....they are literally an inch and a half off of the ground! Annnd they don't sound great. The loudness doesn't really bother me, but they just don't sound healthy. I need to pour over the exhaust threads to see which way to go. The fender exiting exhaust the guy had on the white Miata looked pretty cool, but not sure I want to go that route.

The only real issue I am having is around my fuel delivery. The Miata has a FI-Tech Go-EFI system on it....but frankly, it doesn't dial in very well. I have watched some YouTube videos on configuring the Go-EFI system, but I've had to reset the ECU to factory specs twice as it isn't "learning" properly. Thinking of going with an Edelbrock carb.

Anyway, I will visit more threads once my work schedule slows down, and I look forward to spending more time on this site.

Troy
