Air Conditioner options for LS2
HOT in Houston this year. Making my car hard to drive. Looking at A/C options and suggestions.
Car has ALL A/C components removed. It is a 1996 car and an LS2 block out of a 2006 GTO.
Option 1: Buy a complete vintage air system and make it fit in the car. Their are many systems out there an I'm sure we can find right combination of compressor, condenser, and controls to fit it in. Probably gonna cost $1300 or so, but be a complete made ready kit.
Option 2: I have most of Miata stuff (condenser, lines, dryer, blower, controls). Reinstall all those large boxes under the dash and incorporate them into the GTO A/C compressor using V8Roadster's $200 adapter. Ill need to source all brackets, bolts, and compressor for the GTO and see if it will fit.
Any thoughts or better ideas (besides no A/C)?

the original interior parts seemed to go in and out easily and using them will eliminate any "engineering" to make controls work. Being it is a 96 it is already setup for 134A so no concerns there (evaporator, orafice, parallel flow condenser, etc.)
I think I would go with adapting the required GTO A/C compressor to the Miata lines using that V8Roadster option which keeps the overall "fab" work to a minimum.
It has been really hot here in Atlanta but of course it is the humidity that makes it really nice to have A/C blowing cold (even with the top down as it still provides a little relief at stops!).

I've been eyeballing the space where the compressor will mount. Looks like it should work. I just ordered a mount and bolts off of e-bay and will see how it fits first. I may spend a day to see if I can fabricate a mount to attach the Miata compressor and make it all Miata. That would solve many problems.
I considered using the Miata compressor as well but I could not easily adapt the Ford 6 rib pulley to it. Turns out I bolted up the original Miata compressor lines right to the Ford compressor after a little bending...
