Default using lead acid jump start battery for periodic engine starting during winter

The title pretty much describes my question. Does anyone here know or use one of the lead acid jump pack batteries to start their cars during winter storage? I have several cars on maintainers but my Mustang and Sunbeam Tiger are both stored without onboard batteries. I am intending to simply clip the battery to the battery cables and run the engine until the engine warms up, several minutes. I seem to remember something about those batteries not tolerating that very well. They are meant to be disconnected after the engine starts. What I am hoping to do is have the jump pack take the place of the onboard battery temporarily. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. -Brad
