Default L92 to LS3

Just took delivery of a L92 short block that needs rebuilding. It has one piston that is cracked. Looking to build the engine to produce 500 plus hp. I'm interested in head cam piston combos that you all may have experience with?

I have scanned some of their forums, I feel a little more confident here with these folks. Thanks, I look a little more in depth.

Thanks. I am going to assemble it myself. My block could use a minor over bore. I am replacing all the pistons with forged flat tops. Got rid of the DOD and VVT garbage. Crank and rods are perfect. They are balancing the rotating assembly. I've chosen to use the GMPP CNC heads and most likely a stout custom grind cam. Stock LS injection.

Adding polished rectangular port (LS3) heads and the LS3 'Hot Cam' GM P/N 88958753 will get you to almost 500 Hp with the stock intake and throttle body. You will need to have the ECU re-programmed to get the most out of that engine, otherwise it will not perform. My LS2 with that combo hit 490 HP at the flywheel after I sent the ECU to John Spears. Without his reprogtramming that engine was a dog. The stock program just robs it of everything on the high end. Be sure to select the correct ratio rocker arms and followers for that cam and new pushrods are a must. I went to the local pick-a-part for the heads and sent them out to be ported and polished but summit has the same head for about 650 each. If I had it to do again that is where I would go for heads. Faster and a bit cheaper! There are a number of heads you can use. Attached is a swap guide.
