2009 03 03 engine going in to build #3 last spring. This is "just" a 306 overbored Ford 5.0. Later it chassis dyno'ed at 240 hp to the rear wheels.

This was the starting point for build #4. The car was so well sorted as an autocross car that all I had to upgrade (other than the driveline) was the brakes and tire size.

Build 03 03 Obligatory engine bay shot of build #3. This one used a GT-40 intake from a Ford Explorer and as set of iron GT-40 heads from the same source. We ran a stock cam to try to get the MPG's as high as possible (it hit almost 26mpg).

Build 03 05 Underside of build #3 when I took it to get it inspected. The front K-frame was modded by Martin Wilson of Monster Miata.

Build 03 04 Exhaust of build #3. It's a 2.25 inch system with a H-pipe, two custom resonators to alleviate "drone" and two Borla ProXS mufflers. It was nice and quiet at idle but really opened up when you stepped on it.

Build 03 01 Build #3 in it's "race trim" at Del-Val Miata Club's Pocono track day last July. It did very well, actually hitting 140 on the "bowl" at the hands of my instructor. With me at the wheel it didn't go above 120 but was able to pas everything on the track save a Z06.

Build 2 03 Build #2 after last summer's head and intake swap. We dropped the "stock" iron E7 Mustang heads and intake for a set of AFR's, an Edelbrock intake and a 65 mm intake track. The upgrades moved it from 218 rwhp/276 torque to 281 rwhp/309 torque.

Build 1 2006 11 18 Looks unsuspecting, huh. The Miata in the foreground has twice the power of the others. That's me standing there back when Old Navy fleece was still cool.
