As far away from the exhaust as possible. I also wrapped mine in some heat protector stuff. Try to avoid sharp bends in the cable. Mine makes a large "S" shape from the speedo gear, over the transmission, & through the factory location on the firewall. KEEP IT OFF THE EXHAUST.

Over the top of the trans seems to work well. I've also wraped them around the drivetrain.

Default speed sensor

I was just working this issue. Think I may heat shield mine also over transmission.

No intent to hijack, but along the same lines...

What color/size gear do I need to put on the vehicle speed sensor with a 7.5 rear end and T5 transmission for my Monster?

Usually the red one - 21 teeth.

LateModelRestoration has pretty good prices on them.

Speedo error is an annoyance and its great to have this resource to best calculate the right colour gear to match based on the intended axle ratio band Tyre rolling diameter (revs/mile).

On my intended setup it appeared to be a Pink gear from the calcs (with 225/50R16 tyres and a 3.27 rear axle ratio.).

The answer may not always be RED

Cheers
