Default Need to modify my k-member a little more.

I test fitted my k-member a few weeks ago and am not getting enough clearance on the side that is not cut. Mine is cut just like the Monster Miata ones. Can I just mirror the cut on the other side? Or would that remove too much material?

Don't know if this will help, but.....I modded a spare subframe last summer with the intent of replacing Martin's Monster subframe as show on the images below. Hopefully it'll work to get the headers properly oriented and increase the scrub line clearance. Main objective is to allow the use of downswept headers, commonly known as Hedman mismatch headers. I modded my spare subframe last July, should be driving again in a few weeks.

Yea that looks like that would clear my headers. the side thats already cut clears fine, but the other side is a no go. Cuts look the same as the one I have too.

It's hard to tell on images above, but the passenger side was cut about 1/2" more than the drivers side. This should allow the header to clear the starter and subframe. Just need to get in the shop and get busy welding in motor mounts, thensee what needs tweaking.

Put mine on the engine to see where I needed to cut. Looks like Ill probably just cut it just like the other side is. Name: yxZn25B.jpg

Martin's kit comes with a modified oil pan.. maybe that's your issue?

No I’ve already modified that. It fits fine. The issue is the collectors on the headers.

Right - Martin's headers stick out into the wheel wells.. are you trying to go straight down?

I am not a fan of routing exhaust through the wheel well, I always thought that was a benefit of the LS tubular k members...

Yea, I got some cheap block hugger headers. The side that is cut clears fine. The other side, not so much.

Engine is upside down on engine stand in these pics.
