Thanks John.
Yeah, the machine shop guy even suggested 10w40. Weird thing is, around here it is getting hard to come by for some strange reason. I do have a jug now for the next change.
Haven’t done a follow up compression test but will do soon.

Hi Brad,
If you cant get 10W40 then 5W40 would be just as good (better). I noticed that Neo have the 5W40 you can order a few (say 5) and have them shipped to you.
5W40 engine oil (neosyntheticoil.com)
And its reasonably priced too. Excellent oil..one of the best..
Cheers,

Quick update:
Car continues to run well. I have about 2k miles on this oil change, it hasn’t used any noticeable amount, it’s clean looking, the catch can barely collects any, and I have zero leaks.
The heavier battery cables did fix my slow hot restart- we’ve had some serious hot weather here this summer and she fires off instantly hot or cold.
And the tune is nearly 100% perfect. The slow speed bucking I was getting was related to the dashpot settings in the ecu and my remote tuner has that about 95% in the bag.
Things have finally worked out pretty well for the car. I even got a serious offer to sell at a very fair price, but I just can’t bring myself to do it yet.
I’ll continue to put some miles on her over the summer and send another oil sample off in another couple thousand miles just for my peace of mind.
Next on the list is to replace the 32 year old stock fuel pump, and the salt and pepper connectors with Deutsch connectors. I have one intermittent connection that is temporarily jumpered around the troublesome 10 pins. Minor and easy projects.
Thanks again everyone here for the encouragement and knowledge offered.
Cheers.

Hi Brad,
Great to hear it is still rocking and rolling
It certainly looks a treat
Please dont sell it, you will regret it if you do! What would you possibly get that is that match fun for the same money ??? Nothing
The fuel pump upgrade is a good idea, please note the Walbro 255lph pumps are very good but noisy. Mine works great but I can hear it inside the car with the roof up, i do wish it was quieter.
Cheers
