5.0 Engine is sideways in Martin's subframe?
Just went and looked at a 5.0 build not too far away from me today. Unsure if he's on this forum or not, but he hasn't touched his NB2 in 8 years. He said the last thing he did was put the engine/trans in, in 2012 and never did anything else... We were talking about the engine being crooked/sideways though. He said Martin has slots on the mounts to set the engine straight and he does not have anymore room in the engine and move either the left or the right side, so that the engine is sitting straight and true in the bay? Looking at the pic, the right (drivers side) is all the way forward to where the radiator would be and the left (pass side) is pushed all the way to the firewall . He said he cannot adjust it at all... What could it be? Has anyone else had this problem before?
Something I wanted to research before I jumped into this build? Thanks https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.v8m...0ed018cf30.jpg |
Bet he has the engine mounts on the wrong side :D
Ask if he has given up and wants to sell, I'm just about to start a search for my next project and this could be it Bill S. |

I was hoping he wanted to sell it, but he said nope, he was going to finish it... He has 2 BMW's Z3 M, a newer Z4 Hardtop convertible, some kind of Chevy van, a Subaru SUV, a Honda Odyssey, an old MG, 2 motorcycles, a 15 passenger van and some kind of Mazda van/SUV. I don't think he'll ever get the Miata finished, LOL! He said his wife recently divorced him and I see why, haha! |
The mounts 100% are not symetrical. The slots are offset to one end. Sounds like they need to be flipped around.
