Look at some past posts... for example,
https://www.v8miata.net/cars-sale-4/1993-mazda-miata-built-v8-493/ Your car is awesome, and if it wasn't so far away from Toronto, I'd be interested. I don't know if you'll get over 20k for it, even then it will most likely be hard. |

I am in the midst of tuning the car using an EGT setup, and after that will take it back to the dyno. Hoping to see 400 RWHP or more. |
Keep us up to date on your tuning efforts, interested to see how that turns out.

Wonder how hard it would be to get this past inspection in Toronto... weld some cats on and cross fingers?

Shouldn't be an issue based on this thread:

So what price would it take to get people interested?

I payed $17k for mine a couple years ago, in BC. Well used 302, looks to be pretty much stock. Old rusty exhaust, pretty sloppy suspension, little bit of rust on the rockers. In decent shape overall.
Bishop in vancouver was asking $21k (If i recall correctly) for a basic ford conversion when I was looking. I missed out on the one they had for sale though, but their website showed that they had sold a couple of them at least. I seem to recall a few others around that price range at the time. So it seems that in BC a pretty much "stock" ford conversion goes for somewhere around $17-$20k assuming that they sold for around what they were asking. Those cars don't really compare to yours though.. Dont know if that helps at all. |
That does help put it in perspective. The other way to look at it is the car is low mileage, plus you would have to pay FM $30K to do the conversion.
That said, times are tough. I do want to sell it this year. The weather has been just terrible, so I have only had it out a few times so far. As I dial in the tune with the MegaSquirt it just gets faster and better all the time. Plus the fuel economy is getting better.. as if that matters! |

I don't even think I'm gonna bother taking mine out of storage this year. Just in protest to the weather last year. I had time to drive it, it was insured, running good.... drove it maybe a handful of times. Rain... Rain... Rain... Frustrating. Good luck with the sale |
Vic, I will be back in Calgary in two weeks. Was there last week flying home from Denver but didn't have enough time between flights to try and get together. If your car is still available I would like to come look at it. You don't have front anti-sway bar correct?

I do have a front sway, from a '64 Ford Galaxy no less. Nice, because it goes around the harmonic balancer without having to use long stools for the mounts. I don't have it installed though, because based on track testing I was no faster with it on that without. And the tires rubbed at extreme wheel lock (function of the 225/50-15's I have on the car. Next tires will be 225-45/15 and should not have that issue). |

Your telling me.. (actually had a few good days the last week or so) I don't even think I'm gonna bother taking mine out of storage this year. Just in protest to the weather last year. You would think we lived on the wet coast.. https://www.v8miata.net/v8m/images/icons/icon9.gif |
I'd say that it has to be at 20k or lower to garner interest. I know that you have a lot more time and money into it but unfortunately when we have custom cars we usually don't get every dollar out if them unless the are classics. This isn't always true though, someone could come across a rolling chassis for $500, find a complete engine and tranny for $1000 and have less than 10k in the build. It just all depends but I'd suggest looking at the prices others are listed for. Good luck!

Well, I sold my OTM yesterday, and am now turning the V8 Miata into my DD (after I get the insurance squared away). That said, I am more keen than ever to sell it and get into something I would be willing to drive year round.
Make me an offer folks.... my biggest concern is that get into the hands of someone who will appreciate it and drive it more than I do... |
|
It looks like I may have found my replacement car for the Miata.
So, I am now even more motivated to sell. Price reduced to $20K, OBO. |
Good luck with the sale. Should sell at that price one would think. One province over I payed nearly that for a stock 302, and even then I didn't get that "I overpaid" buyers remorse thing. Hate that feeling...
I think if it doesnt sell at that price then its not a problem with price, maybe there just isnt a buyer out there for it at the moment. I'm sure one will show up. |
Price drop to $18,500
Ready for fall driving season? ;-)

Owners really need to stick to thier guns on price. Remember, there are not that many built V8's for sale at any point, and very few of them are as nice as this one. If FM can get $30K + to build one that should be our starting point.
What you have is comperable to a LSx in power and (with the MS3) modernization. There is no reason it can not command the same price. The only thing driving converted Miata prices down is our willingness to part with them cheaply. I say keep it at the $27,500 price you started with and don't budge. If someone balks at that kindly send them to Monster Miata so they can buy a kit, the local craigs list to find a donor Miata, your local junk yard to start picking parts on thier own, and finally a local machine shop where they can get a quote on building a comperable engine for them. Oh, and then have them call up a local mechanic and see how much assembling the whole thing will cost. Don't budge. -Jason |

Eventually they'll either come around, or they will continue driving less then supercar performance cars. Its funny though- These cars offer supercar performance with the maintenance just a touch over a commuter car. |
A car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It may be worth more to the owner, but that's the reality of it.

Met Vic for the first time and went for a ride (and drive-thanks Vic!) today. Well sorted car with no major issues apparent. I have owned several fast cars and I honestly was impressed, deceptively quick! Now where is that piggy bank???

It is warming up in Calgary. Car will be on the road for May 1, and I want the temptation to keep driving/tweaking it GONE. Price is now $21K.
This is a much better sorted car than most conversions. PLUS it really is unique: - FIRST ever conversion done outside of Monster Motorsports - Conversion done by Les Marsh of MiddTenn Miata - Written up in Miata Magazine and Norman Garrett's Mazda Miata Performance Handbook. - Driven and autographed by Takao Kijimi - the program director for the Miata Since Les did the conversion I have extensively reworked the car, and it has had two different V8's under the hood since he built it. Very low total mileage. Very reliable... worthy of long road trips and many more smiles! Vic |
Drove the car again last week. Not sure I want to sell it anymore. If someone gave me want I want though... How does one decide what a treasure like this is worth?
Better sorted than most Fairly unique... lots of firsts with this car -first home built -first Megasquirt v8 miata -first signed/driven by Kijimi I think I am back to $27.5K. At least until the end of driving season in Calgary! Thanks for the airtime folks! Vic |
Realistic pricing
I am dismayed to see some good cars go for so little both here and on other forums. Sign of the times I guess.
I do want someone to enjoy my car. Mine is parked with its cover on in the middle of driving season, as I am enjoying taking my grandson and his mom out for rides in the BMW M3 convertible instead. Someone make me a reasonable offer and increase the world's GDH (Gross Domestic Happiness ) :yippee: |
Sold.
