1996 'Monster' Miata FOR SALE
I purchased this car in May ’18 from Gateway Motors in Orlando, FL and drove it home to New Jersey.
This is a ‘Monster’ Miata built with the ‘Monster’ brand V8 adaptation kit and includes: -Ford 302 (5L) w/4 barrel & electronic ignition
-Ceramic coated heaters and free flow exhaust
-5 speed transmission
-Ford 7.8 rear with 3.71 gears
-Replacement racing seats-Roll bar
-New tires - 205/60 15 front/ 225/60 15 rear
-Cold air induction hood
-2 electric cooling fans
-exterior front ‘chin’ spoiler
-New convertible top (w/ clear plastic window!)
-Components to re-activate the AC are included
-Radio is in the glove box.. but not connected
-Upgrades to the brakes and suspension are unknown by me… but the Monster kit recommends aftermarket brakes and struts… and this car has no problems with cornering or stopping!!!Since buying the car and driving it 1000 miles home I’ve fixed a number of issues including:
-New high torque mini-starter to overcome the hot starting problem.
-New alternator for full charging capability
-New mechanical fuel pump
-New high output Optima battery
-New 3 point seat beats
-Replacement inner door panels
-Replacement tail lights
-New oil/ filter
-Aligned the headlights
-Added independent on/off switch for the cooling fans
The car now starts (cold or hot!), runs, rev’s, corners and cruises at 70 plus beautifully!!... no shimmies, no vibrations and sounds AMAZING!!
Why am I selling after 1 year? I’m 74yrs old, retired and searching for the cars of my youth. This one is #10 in a series over the last 11yrs. And while this car is amazing… it’s more car then I need (or want to manage at my age) and needs some TLC and added work at the new owners discretion including activating the stock instruments, AC and backup lights.
I’m not desperate to sell. Actually looks good in the garage and is a significant attention getter! But I do feel it’s time for a new home at a fair price.

ASKING: $10,500 (reduced)

1996 Monster Miata FOR SALE
Yes it's still for sale... but frankly I haven't made any efforts to re-post lately as beyond a certain price I'm just going to keep it for fun. It's grown on me and it's a blast to drive!
I bought it very high at $16.5K at Gateway Motors in FL... because i simply wanted one. I figure i paid $2-3K more then i should have so it's posted here at $10.5K.
Lately it's been showing some 'old engine' blue smoke at the tail pipe but runs great so I've gone down to $8.5K with one other guy who was interested but will go no lower... because i actually like this car a lot(!) I've had 11 'fun' and personally significant cars in the last 12yrs of retirement... some too precious to drive in public... but this one is simply a get in and go fun drive!! ;o)
Everything in the ad... pics and text... is still the same.
Car is garaged and pretty much used on sunny days... althought this is a Japanese car and shows NO rust anywhere!!

Sorry to string you along... but after a total revisit to my interests and motives... i'm going to keep the car.
I bought it for $16K... yes, way too much... and my last efforts to sell at $10.5K were unsuccessful... so rather then just give it away... i've got the room and renewed interest to keep it. It truly is a fun ride... Cobra-like performance... for a very affordable price!
Good luck with your search!

quite alright Mr. Zogg, no problem. i hope you continue to have a fun and enjoyable retirement with your family and cars. if you decide to sell your car in the future, consider posting it in this thread or classified forum and maybe we can hook-up then. i've been casually looking for a long time. best wishes.

I know this is an old thread, and you may not even have it anymore, but if you ever decide to sell this or maybe think you’d want to, you got a serious buyer right here. Cool looking car!

Ray,
I decided to keep the car because the responses I got to my ad where very few and offers very low.
It's a truly fun, cheap 'hot rod'... which i now drive on a daily basis... even with it's minor faults!
