We're just waiting to see how the event scheduling works out. Anything works for us & we are currently in the Sat./Sun. crowd. That can change should something interesting get scheduled before then.
I think we were throwing around hanging out @ the corral/track on Sat. & then cruises on Sun. If on track time gets thrown in, that's a bonus.
My kid keeps pushin' to drive The Munster down. I just don't wanna be 800 mi. from home without everything we may need & on the wrong set of tires; so, IDK. Towing just seems like the better choice.

Forgot about the skidpad challenge. So let's stick with that schedule: touring on Friday (optional, obviously), corral/show on Saturday, dinner Saturday night. We'll still have the corral on Friday and Sunday for anyone who wants to use it.
Track time will be limited to touring/parade laps. Think of it as track access, top speed on the faster touring laps is usually 80 mph or so. The Mitty isn't an event like Miatas at MRLS, it's a race weekend.

On which day(s) would be be doing on track touring laps?

When I say "touring", I mean out on the open road. "Touring laps" are a term used by the event organizers for higher speed (80 mph) parade laps. To avoid confusion, I'll refer to them as "fast parade laps"
Actually, I just got some new information about the schedule. We are being offered fast parade laps on Friday during the lunch break. I don't know if this is going to be exclusively for the V8 Miata group or not, but if not they'll almost certainly let us go up to the front of the pack.
There will be parade laps on Saturday as well, but they are usually a very slow, packed affair. I think I saw a VW bus out there last year.
So, with the information that our on-track access will be best on Friday at noon, do we still want to organize a driving tour on that day? It could start after the track experience, so that means around 1:00 or so. Or would you prefer it to be Sunday?
As for Miatas at MRLS, registration opens at 9 am Pacific on February 15

I'm not sure what's involved in camping.
For the corral, you just need to be able to get your car into the track. I'm still trying to find out details about the fast parade laps. Please be patient, there are a lot of layers involved!
I've personally never had to deal with the ticketing process, so pardon my vague answers as I try to get info.

Keith,
Thanks for the update & clarification. There will probably be a number of us ready to drive (on local roads) on Friday as well as on Sunday. So, as far as a drive (on local roads), maybe we can play it by ear where there is a local drive for anyone who wants to go on either day.
As to the Friday "on track" lunch time fast parade laps; is there an on-track fee that would need to be paid?

Well, I'm out.
I currently run the sound system for a local wedding chapel, and I've been able to take off a weekend when the load is normal, usually one or two weddings, and have a maintenance guy run the system. THE weekend of the Mitty we've got FIVE weddings. No way my replacement can keep all of those straight.
So, I'm going to have to bow out and just read about all the fun y'all are going to have.
Anyway, have a good one!
Mike

Update!
Fast parade laps on Friday at noon will be brought to you free of charge, sponsored by Flyin' Miata. They'll be Miata-only.
For other required tickets, you will need a ticket to get your butt into the event. We'll have a code for free infield parking, I'm still waiting for that.

So I can start working on shirts - what are we calling this shindig?
The Miata V8 Summit?
V8 Miatas at the Mitty?
The gathering of the cylinder-enhanced Miatas?
I prefer not to use the term "Monster" because that's a company name, as catchy as it is.

Well you could still stick with the Ms. Miata Mayhem at Mitty.
I'll ask my marketing wiz on it tomorrow. I like invasion as the thread is titles but other than that I got nothing.
PS I could see this question adding 20 posts fast and off the central focus of the event thread. Would you mind if I moved these posts to the shirt thread?
