Word from Keith at FM:
We're still working on some details, such as track access on Thursday or what the schedule might be at the track. But grab your hotel rooms now. |

Me too, but not holding my breath. So, far all anyone's found regarding Thursday is that cars on track are part of a parade lap kinda thing. |
Yeah but if anyone has the muscle to get us a little real track time it's the good folks at Flyin Miata!
|
Signing in to say I will be there! my miata will provably be down at that time but i will show up. I go to university in the area so i can map yall some fun roads.
|
I will definitely be there. Legal oversteer is good.
|
Sweet another Ford!! Yahoo!!!
|
Some updated info:
The Thursday track time is only for those that will be racing. In other words, not us. We are working on some alternatives. Wide open hot laps will likely not be on the menu, but you should get a chance to stretch your legs a bit. The races take place rain or shine, but truly torrential rain can cause a delay. No night racing. We're still working on details. Between GRM/CM and HSR, it takes a bit of time to get answers. I don't know how many cars we'll bring. I'm going to guess 2-3. |

Keith, thanks for the update. To anyone who has been to the event. Where is the best tent location? Looks like outside of the track straight in the trees is a good spot. Are the showers decent? We are most likely gonna stay @ the Hotel (already booked), but, may choose to camp depending on how the event schedule works out for our group. |
I'm thinking about camping too and would like to know that. ^^
I reached out to the IB guys again today to try and get things moving again. Any word from Monster Miata if Martin has reached out to his customers about the event? I'm thinking that needs to happen pretty soon both from him and FM for people to plan and make reservations. 94 days and counting! Oh and you may have noticed we added 3 cars today.... Edit just got word from a guy on LS1tech he is coming so we have added 4 cars today! Come on Ford guys where are you??? |
Add me to the list. I live in braselton. I have a good size gest room. V8 miata guys are welcome to camp out. I got a few neagbors that think my car is bonkers, they would faint if we had 3-4 of them in the drive. If you want to make accomodations email me johnny@ogracing.com. Add my name to the list please johnny and the Nine Lives Racing miata

Jim,
Just posting here that I'm working towards coming. With elderly parents on both sides very little out of town is certain these days, but we're working on it. Have a good one, Mike |
I feel for you Mike and understand it well. I hope it works out for you to get away just because I know how good it is to have a mental break as you tend to them.
|
I'm going to start a new thread to kick around ideas for shirts to the event. I figure this is going to be a discussion of it's own so if you want to talk about it go:

Tentatively, my Father and I are going, I have the plan together anyway. My counterpart had his visa expire, but my normal rotation ends a week before the mitty. As long as he gets his visa, I'll be there. I may fly in, or we may take the challenger.
Jim are you driving or flying? |
Bro the whole point is to get the cars together so driving for sure! Drop me a note when you are back stateside and lets get that engine put together!
|
I'm all Chevy power ls1. Got a John Bouchard Racing engine.

Well, its a hell of a drive jim, oof. If we go, I'll co-drive my dad's challenger, the 3 just isnt' the most great tourer, unless of course I need to transport an engine or something back. can you believe an LS7 fits in the back? ha *oh, if you help build the LS7, does that mean you have to pay me, like if you build your own LS7 through Chevy at the performance build center? That sounds like a great idea! Oh, I crack me up... |
We're starting to work on details over here. Here's a rough outline:
Friday: touring day. You're welcome to meet at the corral and use that as a starting point for drives. All the FM guys will be busy so someone else will have to lead. Friday night: There's usually a Mazda party at the GRM tent, if memory serves. Saturday: show day. Descend upon the corral. Hang out and check out V8 Miatas (and their offshoots) as well as some other great cars and racing. It's tough to get in and out of the track on Saturday. We are working on some high speed touring laps as well. Saturday night: Dinner. We usually meet up with the Atlanta locals on Saturday night, and we might as well make this into a big V8 party. We already have a location for this at a local restaurant. |
So, plan on showing up Thursday?
|
Unless everyone would rather tour on Sunday, let's hear from the crowd. Sunday is a quieter day at the track as the races wind down.
|
I've never been, so I can go either way. The weekend is dedicated either way for me, and heading home Sunday or Monday both work.
BTW, sent you a PM. Have a good one, Mike |
I signed up for the traqmate skidpad challenge on Sunday. I'm going to get there on Thursday. Touring on Friday sounds great!
|
We're just waiting to see how the event scheduling works out. Anything works for us & we are currently in the Sat./Sun. crowd. That can change should something interesting get scheduled before then.
I think we were throwing around hanging out @ the corral/track on Sat. & then cruises on Sun. If on track time gets thrown in, that's a bonus. My kid keeps pushin' to drive The Munster down. I just don't wanna be 800 mi. from home without everything we may need & on the wrong set of tires; so, IDK. Towing just seems like the better choice. |
Forgot about the skidpad challenge. So let's stick with that schedule: touring on Friday (optional, obviously), corral/show on Saturday, dinner Saturday night. We'll still have the corral on Friday and Sunday for anyone who wants to use it.
Track time will be limited to touring/parade laps. Think of it as track access, top speed on the faster touring laps is usually 80 mph or so. The Mitty isn't an event like Miatas at MRLS, it's a race weekend. |
So Miatas at Laguna next year then.... :)

I was kind of fuzzy on that too. You said Friday is touring day but is that track touring or touring the Georgia hills?
|
When I say "touring", I mean out on the open road. "Touring laps" are a term used by the event organizers for higher speed (80 mph) parade laps. To avoid confusion, I'll refer to them as "fast parade laps" :)
Actually, I just got some new information about the schedule. We are being offered fast parade laps on Friday during the lunch break. I don't know if this is going to be exclusively for the V8 Miata group or not, but if not they'll almost certainly let us go up to the front of the pack. There will be parade laps on Saturday as well, but they are usually a very slow, packed affair. I think I saw a VW bus out there last year. So, with the information that our on-track access will be best on Friday at noon, do we still want to organize a driving tour on that day? It could start after the track experience, so that means around 1:00 or so. Or would you prefer it to be Sunday? As for Miatas at MRLS, registration opens at 9 am Pacific on February 15 :) |
I'd definitely go for the fast parade laps on Friday and tour the area on Sunday!

I'm not sure what's involved in camping.
For the corral, you just need to be able to get your car into the track. I'm still trying to find out details about the fast parade laps. Please be patient, there are a lot of layers involved! I've personally never had to deal with the ticketing process, so pardon my vague answers as I try to get info. |
Keith,
Thanks for the update & clarification. There will probably be a number of us ready to drive (on local roads) on Friday as well as on Sunday. So, as far as a drive (on local roads), maybe we can play it by ear where there is a local drive for anyone who wants to go on either day. As to the Friday "on track" lunch time fast parade laps; is there an on-track fee that would need to be paid? |
I'm still trying to find out details. Nothing has changed since my post last night :)

Well, I'm out.
I currently run the sound system for a local wedding chapel, and I've been able to take off a weekend when the load is normal, usually one or two weddings, and have a maintenance guy run the system. THE weekend of the Mitty we've got FIVE weddings. :eek4: No way my replacement can keep all of those straight.
So, I'm going to have to bow out and just read about all the fun y'all are going to have. Anyway, have a good one! Mike |

Vettedrmr, sorry to hear that you can't make it. |
Update!
Fast parade laps on Friday at noon will be brought to you free of charge, sponsored by Flyin' Miata. They'll be Miata-only. For other required tickets, you will need a ticket to get your butt into the event. We'll have a code for free infield parking, I'm still waiting for that. |

Bam is right! If my wife is reading this no more complaints about Visa charges to Flyin Miata! EVER!
I updated the schedule in the first post and let me be the first to tip my hat and say a big THANK YOU to Keith and the gang at |

Me too! Now, whether or not to camp...hmmm :dunno: |
Will we need helmets for the parade laps?
|
No special safety gear is required.
|
LOL I can't wait! Getting ready!

So I can start working on shirts - what are we calling this shindig?
The Miata V8 Summit? V8 Miatas at the Mitty? The gathering of the cylinder-enhanced Miatas? I prefer not to use the term "Monster" because that's a company name, as catchy as it is. |
Well you could still stick with the Ms. Miata Mayhem at Mitty.
I'll ask my marketing wiz on it tomorrow. I like invasion as the thread is titles but other than that I got nothing. PS I could see this question adding 20 posts fast and off the central focus of the event thread. Would you mind if I moved these posts to the shirt thread? |
